Roskva Yasmin Andersen, 32, artist based in Bergen, specializes in contemporary dance, creating her own works and collaborating with others across various mediums, including stage, film, and site-specific projects. Additionally, she organizes the Festival DanseRom, aimed at involving audiences in the exploration of contemporary dance. Her artistic journey has involved numerous productions touring nationally, and working to perform internationally.
Her artistic vision revolves around the convergence of emotions, the body, and scenography, with a strong emphasis on human relationships. Through dance, she aims to create connections and contact while crafting inclusive and expansive dance art accessible to diverse audiences. Her work is characterized by a physical aesthetic blending elements such as flow, displacement, falls, release-based floor techniques, partnering, improvisation, and an evolving acrobatic language.
Inspired and influenced by scenography with visual impact, she seeks to challenge perspectives, manipulate space, and enhance the language of movement. Andersen's overarching goal is to foster more interpersonal experiences in art, contribute to audience development, and make contemporary dance universally accessible. Her artistic aspirations are woven into her work's narratives, methods, strategies, and thematic explorations.
She holds degrees from Spin Off in Oslo, the Amsterdam School of the Arts, and a Bachelor's in Performing Arts, with a focus on pedagogy, from the University of Stavanger. She also did an exchange semester at Concordia University in Montreal, 2015.
